The Toro 16400 Hand Push Whirlwind Cast Aluminum Deck Lawnmowers
have a 21" Cast Aluminum Whirlwind deck. The  engine is a Briggs & Stratton
Quantom 4hp 4-cycle engine

These Toro or Briggs & Stratton Quantom Engines have been for the most part reliable.
Most of the ones that we have sold have lasted about the same time as their aluminum chassis.

The Biggest problem we have found is they are susceptible to dirt that
comes in the gas you buy.....it seems to accumulate in the carburetor and we have had
to clean more than our fair share......If you use a funnel with a fine mesh
screen the problem seems to go away

This is the classic Toro Whirlwind deck that Toro Produced for at least 30 years
They were famous for their superior cut.......

The problem with these Toro Whirlwind Lawnmowers
 and the reason that they are only now produced in a commercial mower is that they
would only side bag and were by their design incapable of becoming a Mulcher or as Toro
calls it..... Recycler.   Also the cost of the Aluminum deck made them quite expensive and
they slowly got priced out of the market

Most of the  Toro  Whirlwind Cast Aluminum Deck lawn mowers that we have sold are
still going strong and many are approaching 20 years in age.......With good care we have seen
these mowers aproaching 30 years in age and still going strong...they were and are a great
investment.......most mowers are lucky to last 10 years

It is getting hard to find Toro Whirlwind lawnmowers and if you are looking for a side
discharge mower with a superoir quality ot cut this is the lawnmower for you
